Frequently asked questions

A certified translation is a word-for-word human translation of a document. Come Notarize provided certified translation documents which come with an affidavit of accuracy (Certificate of Translation Accuracy) signed by a member of the Come Notarize team. The certified translation can be used in the U.S. Immigration (USCIS), universities, courts, and many local, state, and federal governments.

Standard translations are interpretive translations that provide the "true" meaning of the document being translated. This type of translation is perfect for business or personal use of critical documents where certification isn’t required.

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation of the content of a document. The purpose of certified translations is to reflect exactly what is in the original document for legal and official purposes. Certified translations are often selected when the receiver requires certification to verify that the translation is complete and accurate. This type of translation is commonly required for submission to U.S. Immigration (USCIS), universities, courts, and governments.

It depends on the specific requirements of your receiver. You should always verify your receiver's requirements before ordering a translation to ensure you make the correct selections. If you are unsure, we encourage you to request a free quote or contact Come Notarize and we will help you decide which translation is best for you.

For certified translations, pages are calculated based on a document's total word count. A page is defined as 250 words or less, including numbers. So to determine how many pages a document with 1,000 words would be priced at we divide 1,000 words by 250 words to arrive at the four-page count. Any words above 1,000 up to 1,250 would count as one additional page and so on in 250-word increments.

If you don't know how many words are in your text, ask for a free quote or contact us by phone. Come Notarize's support team will calculate and inform you about your word count, page count, total price, and estimated turnaround time.

Certified translations are given as a secure PDF file that is not editable. They also include a signed and stamped English language Certificate of Translation Accuracy. This certificate verifies the quality and accuracy of the translation and the qualifications of the translator. Our certified translations:
  • Are on company letterhead containing our contact information.
  • When possible, are formatted similar to, but not exactly like, the source document.
  • Are direct translations from the source may not always be perfect, as we can't interpret the meaning of a phrase, but we can only provide an exact translation according to certified standards.
  • Do not include a copy of your source files in the same PDF unless specifically requested.
If you order a physical copy we will ship you an unfolded copy of the translation with wet ink signatures. We do not print and ship a copy of your source documents because you already have the originals.

It typically takes about 24 hours to translate up to three pages (750 words). However, if an expedited translation is requested, turnaround time is reduced by about 12 hours.
